Instead of climbing in the San Miguels, I headed to the desert, where I thought I might see a bit of sun. It turned out to be a great idea. I had a great hike, saw lots of arches and other cool desert formations, and had a blast scrambling over the sandstone on the trail on the way back. That evening I drove up to Salt Lake City and then into Nevada, where I camped at the north end of the Ruby range. While I didn't get to do any hiking, I had a beautiful morning there at the lake among the aspens; and I got to do some hiking in Nevada later in the trip, at Great Basin National Park.
