I drove down through Buena Vista and over Independence pass the night before through big thunderstorms, got to the trailhead at 11:30, ate a bit, pulled my seat back, and slept until 2:30. Then I woke up, ate a bit, and started hiking under a third quarter moon. I didn't quite make the sunrise from the Capitol-Daly pass, but it was a spectacular hike nonetheless. I was alone on the summit with clear skies and beautiful weather -- on a Saturday!
